I walked a mile with Pleasure

She chatted all the way;

But left me none the wiser

For all she had to say

I walked  a mile with Sorrow

And never a word said she:

But oh! The things I learned from her,

When sorrow walked with me

This poem was written by Robert Browning Hamilton and i think it states so perfectly the gift that challenges in our lives bring. I have personally grown the most through the hardest patches in my life. I really was forced to look so far inside myself  to find a way out of the dark and come to a place of deeper understanding and meaning. It is by going within that we are able to find a peace and wholeness that supports us as we travel the rocky roads in life. So whenever you are feeling overwhelmed with emotions or events that are happening in your life take a moment to pause, sit and bring your awareness to your centre, to your breath. Know that this tough patch will pass in time and you will only grow stronger and wiser  from it. Being grateful for all our experiences whether they are positive or negative really is the key to living life gracefully and with ease.
