SIT EVERYDAY
Why Sit?
- Meditation is the ideal antidote to the busyness of our lives. Meditation gives ourselves a break from the incessant speed of our culture
- Its good for you- study after study demonstrates scientifically that meditation reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, boosts the immune system and creates a general sense of wellbeing
- We gain insight our minds, hearts and bodies, the way our habits and patterns work, what motivates us and what we care about
- It can teach us new skills such as compassion and equanimity. As we meditate, sitting through all aspects of experience, the good, bad, ugly and we sit there with great calm, letting things come and go, we develop a balanced and non-reactive mind. This skill transfers out into our lives.
- The brain can create new neural pathways. So the more we cultivate our minds towards calm, compassion, concentration, joy – the more they will eventually become who we are
- What we practice will grow. If you want to cultivate a calm, centred mind we need to practice being calm and centred.
Daily practice is essential to mold and remind our minds of states that will benefit it.
